The freelance economy is no longer a trend. It has become one of the strongest forces shaping how modern work is done. That is why SmartClick was proud to be present at the Third International Freelance Conference, organised by the Impact Foundation. Our team was represented by our CEO, Milan Savov.
This event brought together hundreds of freelancers, consultants, and independent professionals who are building their own careers and contributing to a fast-growing global ecosystem. For us at SmartClick, supporting this community is more than showing up for an event. It is a reminder of where many of us started and what shaped our identity as an agency.
A Look Inside the Event
The conference delivered a full day of conversations about building sustainable freelance careers, navigating international opportunities, and growing from individual contributors into business owners.
Several sessions stood out:
Finding the Right Virtual Assistant
Led by Biljana Dimitrievska (CEO of SkillSpotterZ), this session explored how freelancers can scale their work by delegating. From what questions to ask, to what expectations to set, Biljana broke down the foundations of strong VA partnerships.
Entering the US Market Through an LLC
A practical talk featuring Petar Todorovski and Nikola Arsovski, moderated by Natasha Velkovska. They shared real examples of freelancers opening opportunities in the American market, setting up LLCs, and creating long-term collaborations with international clients.
From Project to Partnership
A memorable conversation with Georgi Dokuzov and Bisera Loteska, focused on building healthy client relationships. As long-time contributors to the freelance and creative ecosystem, they spoke openly about moving past project-to-project work and building long-term partnerships.
Milan Savov on Stage: From Freelancer to Entrepreneur
One of the key conversations of the day featured our CEO, Milan Savov, in a panel titled:
“Forward and Backwards: From Entrepreneurship to Freelancer and vice versa” moderated by Marija Ristovska and joined by Stefan Stefanov.
Milan shared the journey behind SmartClick. A path that started with freelancing, moved into entrepreneurship, and eventually shaped the agency we are today.
Here are a few ideas he brought to the stage:
Growth begins with redefining your identity, not your to-do list.
Your environment matters. Surround yourself with people who already walk the path you want.
Freelancers often think: “The more I work, the more I earn.” Entrepreneurs think differently: “The smarter you lead, the stronger your team can execute.”
Values evolve. Flexibility and independence become teamwork, shared goals, and long-term outcomes.
Technical skills get you started, but leadership skills help you scale.
This is the same mindset that drives SmartClick today. We help B2B SaaS companies grow through SEO, content, and web optimisation, but the roots of our work come from the freelance spirit: ownership, adaptability, speed, and real accountability.
A Community That Keeps Pushing Forward
We want to thank Elena Ivanova and the entire Impact Foundation team for creating a space where freelancers can connect, learn, and grow.
A special nod also goes to SMX, whose booth showcased how professionals can learn new skills and kickstart their freelance journeys through modern learning tools.
Why This Event Matters to SmartClick
SmartClick exists today because of the path that freelancing opened for our founders and many of our team members. Being part of this event was more than representation. It was a way to:
give back to the freelance community,
support the next generation of independent professionals,
share real experiences about growing from one person to a team, and
help freelancers understand how to build partnerships that last.
This is the future of work, and we are proud to stand with the people shaping it.
